Complete Kitchen Transformation In High Wycombe

Over the years, the kitchen served its purpose but by 2012, it was showing its age. “The veneer was lifting off and the colour had faded,” says Micky, “we knew it was time to do something about it.”

Approximately four years ago, the couple made enquiries to various companies (including KBS) but never actually got around to progressing things. Ironically though, they were so impressed with our ideas and approach, they recommended us to three other sets of friends, who did have their kitchens done! “Seeing the great job KBS did for them was the spur we needed,” says Micky.

Andy is a gifted handyman and finds it hard to let others loose on his home but due to time and work restrictions, our remit was to supply and fit for their home. This included boarding up a couple of walls, plastering ceilings, re-wiring the kitchen and finally the decorating.

Micky came to visit us with a short list of ‘must-haves’, which included an eye-level oven, tall pull-out cupboards and an induction hob. Our designer Chris took this into account, and after visiting the property, came up with a design both Micky and her husband loved.

“He’d really interpreted what we wanted very well,” she says. “We also love the coffee and cocktail station. It makes fantastic use of the potentially un-used area between two cupboard doors. We spotted the roller shutter cupboard in the showroom and identified that would be a great place to site the station. Chris then incorporated it into the design for the area.”

Once the plans were agreed, it was simply a job of ordering the contents and then fitting them. Everything went smoothly, although the job was delayed a couple of times along the way – once when Micky changed her mind about a cupboard and wanted a different one and the second time as they were deciding on what glass to have for the splashback. “But it wasn’t a problem,” says Micky.

“We took our time and although it must have been difficult for KBS with us changing things, they handled it well. When we were ready to proceed again, it was fantastic to see the same workmen return. We’d built up a relationship with them and I can’t fault what they did, or their attitude whilst they were doing it.”

And the end result? Very charmingly, Micky refers to her kitchen as, ‘too posh for us. But we absolutely love it!’
